VOLUNTEER FOR CHANGE

The Volunteer for Change Programme is a hands-on training initiative where you:

Expand your understanding of the big issues of our time.

Build your skills and abilities to become able to work with international development work.

Work with community development projects in Malawi, Zambia, India or Mozambique.

Live and learn with like-minded people in a community setting.

3 MONTHS

PREPARATION AND TRAINING

The preparation period focuses on studying overarching topics such as global affairs, world history, the underlying causes of poverty and social movements. It also involves learning skills such as project management, teamwork and hands-on skills that are necessary for working with development projects.

During the preparatory course, you will work alongside a team of like-minded individuals to acquire the knowledge, mindset, and skills necessary to become respectful and resourceful international volunteers. The course uses a variety of methods, including lectures, group discussions, individual study, investigative research and practical activities throughout the entire learning experience.

6 MONTHS

VOLUNTEERING WITH COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

You will be posted on a project, together with members of your team, in Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi, or India. Projects in these countries focus mainly on education, community development and health, and farming.

Working alongside the professional staff of the project, you will address the root causes of poverty and contribute to building resilient communities. Depending on the project’s aims and objectives, this may involve diverse activities such as conducting baseline surveys, organizing workshops for caregivers, supporting income-generating activities, implementing climate resilience measures, creating teaching materials, and much more.

Childrens Town (Zambia) – Working with a school with 400 students learning skills for their future

Pre-schools of the Future (Malawi) – Supporting rural preschools to improve early childhood education 

Farmers Club (Mozambique) – Assisting farmers with organization, knowledge and materials to become more ressilient

Teacher Training Collage (India) – Training the next generation of teachers

1 MONTH

EVALUATION AND INFORMATION WORK

1 month to evaluate and raise awareness on the impacts of global warming and climate change and your contributions by touring Denmark with presentations and workshops.

As a team, you take time to gather all experiences, stories and findings from the last 6 months. You prepare information products that contain messages of the people you met through the programme, along with tips for how individuals and communities can take actions themselves. You give workshops and presentations. You discuss the future and how to continue in the fight to make the world habitable for future generations.

HANDS-ON TRAINING

The International Volunteer for Change program is an immersive course that prioritizes experiential learning. Volunteers engage in a dynamic mix of personal studies, group discussions, and practical experiences, which we call “Learning by Doing.” We believe this approach offers the most effective foundation for working with community-driven development projects
